John T. Cater worked in Texas banking for 40 years, concluding his banking career as Chairman of Compass Bank-Houston. Previous to that he served as Chairman of River Oaks Trust Company, President of MCorp, a $20 billion statewide bank holding company, and President of Texas Commerce Bank. Currently he is primarily engaged in managing his personal investments. He has served on the Board of CenterPoint Energy ad its predecessor, Reliant Energy, since 1983; is currently on the Advisory Boards of Compass Bank-Houston and American Industrial Partners, a private equity firm. John is involved in multiple public school reform efforts in Houston, serves actively with several Texas Medical Center institutions, is on several foundation boards, and has headed numerous civic and non-profit organizations. |
