Dr. Perfect received his B.A. in Biology from Wittenberg University, Springfield, Ohio in 1971 and his M.D. degree in Medicine from the Medical College of Ohio at Toledo in 1974. Following an Internship at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, OH, a Medical Residency at the University of Michigan Medical Center, in Ann Arbor, MI and a Fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Duke Medical Center in Durham, NC, he joined the faculty at Duke University in 1982. He is currently a Professor of Medicine at Duke University. Dr. Perfect’s Board Certifications include the National Board of Medical Examiners (1974), American Board of Internal Medicine (1977), and American Board of Infectious Diseases (1980). Dr. Perfect’s research focuses on molecular targets of aromatic dicationic drugs in fungi.
