John R. Bultena has spent his career in the financial services industry and the private practice of law. Most recently, he served as Minnesota chairman of Northern Trust Bank, and before that, as the president and CEO who opened Northern’s first Minnesota office in 2005. Earlier, he was executive vice president, then president and CEO of Dorsey & Whitney Trust Company, as well as senior vice president and head of personal trust administration for U.S. Bancorp. From 1976 until 1990, Bultena practiced law with the Twin Cities firm of Briggs and Morgan. He is a director and treasurer of Minnesota Lawyers Mutual Insurance Company, a director of Bonestroo, Inc., and a director of Surgical Management Professionals, LLC. He also is a member of the board of visitors of the University of Minnesota law school.
Bultena holds a BA degree from Augustana College (SD), a JD degree from the University of Minnesota, and an LLM (in taxation) degree from New York University. He is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association, Ramsey County Bar Association, and Hennepin County Bar Association. In addition to his service as a member of the Children’s board, Bultena has served as a regent of Augustana College and a director of the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, and he currently is a member of Minneapolis Rotary Club. |
