John is an associate. His practice is concentrated in the areas of general corporate law, real estate, estate planning and trusts, and civil litigation in multiple areas including insurance law, appellate practice and creditor’s rights. John is admitted to practice before the Ohio Supreme Court, the United States Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and various United States District Courts throughout the nation, including the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio.
Originally from Holmes County, John completed his law degree from The Ohio State University College of Law where he graduated cum laude and was a recipient of both the Judge Joseph M. Harter Memorial Award for Trial Practice (1993-94), and the Jurisprudence Award for Trial Practice (1993). While in law school, John was a member of the Editorial Board of the Ohio State Journal on Dispute Resolution, publishing the article: -The Ohio Supreme Court Constricts the Definition of "Arbitration" in Schaeffer v. Allstate Ins. Co., 9 Ohio St. J. on Dip. Res. 181 (1993). In addition, he served as past member of the Board of Directors of the Ohio State College of Law Public Interest Law Foundation (1991-1994).
John has a B.A. Degree from the University of Notre Dame where he graduated magna cum laude, and was recognized as a Notre Dame Scholar.
From 1994-1996, John served as a judicial law clerk to Chief Judge Robert L. Miller, Jr. of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana, in South Bend, Indiana.
He is a member of the Ohio, Stark County, and Tuscarawas County Bar Associations, and was selected to serve as a Mentor for the Ohio Supreme Court’s Lawyer-to-Lawyer Mentoring Program (2006).
John is extremely involved in community activities. He is an Inaugural Board Member of the American Red Cross Stark County Regional Chapter Regional Advisory Council, is a ten-year Board Member of the American Red Cross, Muskingum Lakes Chapter, serving as past Chairman of the Board (2002-2005). He currently serves as a Board Member of the Tuscarawas County Law Library Association, as Vice President of the Parish Council of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover, is a member of the Dover Knights of Columbus, serving as Church Committee Chairman, and is a member of the Domenic Greco Memorial Community Band.
John resides in Dover with his wife Vicki and three children, Mary, Michael and David. |
