Current responsibility
John is a consulting actuary with the Seattle office of Milliman. He has more than 10 years of healthcare actuarial experience, both with Milliman and as director of health care economics for a Blue Cross Blue Shield plan.
Experience
John assists clients with a variety of actuarial projects, many focused on provider network and delivery system analytics. Examples of solutions that he has delivered for clients include:
Provider contract analysis tools - enabling the client to accurately and efficiently evaluate the financial impacts of various contractual provisions
Provider network unit cost reporting and projection - enabling the client to consistently track contracting performance relative to a target, understand the impact of specific negotiations, and incorporate appropriate premium rate adjustments in a timely manner
Underwriting approaches and premium rate development
Provider benchmarking and comparison tools - enabling the identification of contract improvement opportunities
Experience analysis and reporting
Medicare Advantage bids and strategies
Financial evaluation of disease management programs and the associated return on investment
