John grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, and attended Southwest Missouri State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing Management. After graduation, John moved to Pensacola, Florida, and became manager of a large marina in Orange Beach, Alabama. During this time, John returned to studies at the University of West Florida and earned his M.B.A. with an emphasis in Accounting and Finance. While attending UWF, John served as a consultant in the Small Business Development Center at the school. After completing his studies, John moved to Jackson and started in public accounting with Poole, Cunningham and Reitano, the predecessor firm of GranthamPoole. John also served as chief financial officer for a local steel fabricator before returning to GranthamPoole and public accounting. John is a valued member of the firm’s audit, non-profit, retail/wholesale and employee benefits teams. John is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Mississippi Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Central Mississippi Chapter of Certified Public Accountants. John is deeply committed to his community and is currently serving on the Boards of Directors of Voice of Calvary Family Health Center and for Grace Connection Ministries, a prison ministry. John and his wife, the former Kathryn Hughes, have two children, Rachel and Katie, and are active members of Crossgates Baptist Church. John is currently attending seminary at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. |
