John Holland practices in admiralty and maritime litigation, products liability litigation and commercial litigation. Named a 2006-07 Rising Star by Texas Monthly magazine, Mr. Holland has experience in a full range of admiralty and maritime law, and has tried numerous personal injury, Jones Act seaman and commercial litigation cases. GlobalSantaFe Drilling Company, et al., also in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, which resulted in a verdict for the Defendants. Served as first chair and represented Taylor v. Dynegy Midstream Services, L.P. & Travelers Property Casualty Co. in Louisiana state court. Served as first chair in Knox Group, L.L.C. v. AIT Worldwide Logistics, Inc. in Harris County District Court, which resulted in a dismissal of Plaintiff’s claims and an award granting Defendant’s counterclaims and attorney’s fees. Extensive experience in the handling of first and third party personal injury cases emanating from the blue water, brown water, and onshore/offshore energy industries. Considerable experience in the marine and energy insurance fields, both first and third party claims. Considerable experience in the indemnity, contracts of carriage, cargo damage and maritime collision/allision areas. Extensive experience investigating maritime and shore based accidents. Extensive experience defending/prosecuting product liability actions, including cases involving medical device manufacturers and power tool companies.
