John Brots, 46, is executive vice president of global operations at Tellabs. In this role, Brots is responsible for developing and implementing operational supply chain strategies and tactics that improve bottom line results and customer satisfaction. Previously, as vice president of supply chain management, North America, Brots aligned Tellabs processes with its contract manufacturing partners to increase overall efficiencies. Prior to this, Brots was vice president of Tellabs Global Manufacturing. In this role, Brots was responsible for six manufacturing facilities around the world. He managed and executed supply chain operations, supplier strategy and inventory flow with a focus on time-to-market. He maintained worldwide manufacturing standards and practices and assured customer satisfaction by exceeding customers’ delivery, process and product quality requirements. Since joining Tellabs in 1988, Brots has held a variety of management positions in manufacturing and helped pioneer the integration of the just-intime/ demand flow technology philosophy into Tellabs’ manufacturing process. Prior to joining Tellabs, he worked at Tracor, Inc., Sperry Aerospace and Gulton Aerospace, where he held a variety of process and quality engineering positions. Brots holds a Master of Business Administration degree from St. Edwards University in Texas and a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and math from Cameron University in Oklahoma. He is a member of the board of directors for QuEST Forum, a partnership of telecommunications suppliers and service providers.
