Mr. Powell joined RED CAPITAL GROUP in April 2007. He will be based in Chicago, where he will open a new office for RED. Under his direction and guidance, the firm will work to build a significant and highly effective presence in the Chicago region and all of the upper Midwest, with Mr. Powell enhancing RED’s existing relationships and opening doors to new relationships with both national and regional borrowers. Mr. Powell has over 30 years of experience in commercial real estate, including nearly a decade with Fannie Mae where he was responsible for the Multifamily Group’s conventional flow business including seniors housing, student housing and manufactured housing and more recently for ensuring the underwriting quality and credit compliance of all Fannie Mae Housing and Community Development Division assets including Multifamily. Mr. Powell also worked previously as Senior Vice President for The Balcor Company, and prior to that spent nearly a decade working with real estate focused financial institutions including First National Bank of Chicago and Wells Fargo Realty Advisors. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the American Seniors Housing Association and previously served as a member of the Board of the Community Investment Corporation and the National Investment Center. Mr. Powell holds a Masters of Urban and Regional Planning degree from the University of Virginia as well as an undergraduate degree from Lafayette College. |
