John J. Moroney, Chief Executive Officer and a director, is a founder of our company. Mr. Moroney has over 25 years of experience in both the funding and operational management of life science companies. He was primarily responsible for negotiating the terms of Juvent’s management buyout from Smith & Nephew in November 2003, and has served in an executive capacity since that time. Mr. Moroney currently serves as Chairman of EyeGene Biosciences, Inc., a biotechnology company, a director of Yarraman Winery, Inc., and is an advisory director of the Infinity Capital Group, a business development company. Mr. Moroney has served for 23 years as the President of Landmark Financial Corporation (Landmark), which he founded in 1983 to provide corporate finance advisory services to emerging life sciences companies, specializing in capital raising, mergers and acquisitions, and product licensing. Between 1985 and 1991, Landmark had an exclusive arrangement with Ladenburg, Thalmann & Co., one of the oldest investment banks in New York, to capitalize on emerging opportunities in the healthcare market, where Mr. Moroney served as a managing director. During this period, Landmark served as the investment banker for many noted life science companies in a variety of key deals, and developed a unique service niche assisting foreign clients to become established in the United States, including F. Faulding & Co., Ltd.’s (Australia’s largest pharmaceutical company) acquisition of Solvay’s Purepac division, the initial public offerings of both Physician Computer Network, Inc. (now WebMD) and Par Pharmaceutical Companies (NYSE: PRX), and the restructuring of Carrington Laboratories, Inc. (AMEX: CARN). In 1991, Mr. Moroney became a co-founder and Chairman of Flemington Pharmaceutical Corporation, a publicly held development-stage drug delivery company (now NovaDel Pharmaceuticals (AMEX: NVD)). Prior to founding Landmark, Mr. Moroney spent ten years in commercial banking with Citibank, United Jersey Bank, and Midlantic Bank. Mr. Moroney holds B.S. and M.B.A. degrees from Fordham University. |
