John Moon is a Managing Director of Riverstone. He is based in New York.
Prior to joining Riverstone, Mr. Moon was a founding partner and Managing Director of Metalmark Capital LLC, an independent private equity firm established by principals of Morgan Stanley Capital Partners, the global private equity business of Morgan Stanley. Prior to the founding of Metalmark Capital, Mr. Moon was a Managing Director of Morgan Stanley Capital Partners. He served on the investment committees of the Morgan Stanley Capital Partners and Metalmark Capital Partners funds. Mr. Moon served on the boards of a number of Morgan Stanley Capital Partners and Metalmark Capital Partners portfolio companies including Aventine Renewable Energy, Cantera Resources, Canyon Gas Resources, Concert Capital Resources, Triana Energy/Columbia Natural Resources and Union Drilling. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley in 1998, Mr. Moon was a Vice President in the Investment Banking Division of Goldman, Sachs & Co. in New York.
Mr. Moon serves on the board of Phoenix Exploration Company. Mr. Moon graduated with an A.B. magna cum laude in economics and an A.M. and Ph.D. in business economics from Harvard University. He is also an adjunct professor of finance at Columbia Business School. |
