John H. McCarthy is a partner and member of the Executive Committee of RAWLE & HENDERSON. He also serves as the firm's Recruiting Chairman and as Editor of the quarterly newsletter, Rawle's Reports. Mr. McCarthy graduated from The Pennsylvania State University in 1979. He received his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Villanova University in 1982 where he was the Associate Editor of the Villanova Law Review and the author of a case note, Manifest Injustice Exception Used to Deny Retroactive Application of the 1978 Amendments to the Age Discrimination in Employment Act ADEA). Mr. McCarthy concentrates his practice in the areas of construction litigation, motor vehicle and premises liability. He has authored on the topic of the Peculiar Risk Doctrine Exception to the Rule of an Owner's Non-Liability in the context of personal injury construction related suits for the Pennsylvania Defense Institute. Mr. McCarthy serves as regional and local counsel for insured and self-insured clients including general contractors, subcontractors, owners, convenience markets and hotels. He has been rated AV by the Martindale-Hubbell Rating system.
Mr. McCarthy is Chairperson of Rawle & Henderson's Construction Section as well as a Member of the Firm’s Executive Committee and Chair of the Firm’s Recruiting Committee.
