John F. Gault has over forty years of experience in the cable industry ranging from management, executive management, and board advisory roles in industry, to teaching and activist leadership positions. John began his career as an Operation’s Manager at Teleprompter. In 1964, became the first VP of Operations of T.V.C., which ultimately became Warner Cable.
Also in 1964, John was named President of Continental Cable, a division of Vikoa. In 1970, John was named VP of Marketing of American Television Communications Corporation (ATC); for nine years he managed both line operations and many of the franchise activities of the company. In 1979, he was named President of Manhattan Cable Television, a division of Time Inc. and the nation's largest single-franchised urban cable system. He was also responsible for the franchising, construction and management of ATC's Queens Cable system as well as Paragon Cable in Northern Manhattan.
In 1986, he was named Executive VP of ATC Corporation, now Time Warner Cable. In September of 1989, as Executive VP, John was responsible for nine Time Warner Cable operating divisions. He was named Executive VP of Strategic Planning for Time Warner Cable from March 1998 thru his retirement from Time Warner Cable in November 1999.
John is also an active participant in cable industry affairs, having served as chairman of the New York State Cable Television Association from 1983 through 1988 and as chairman of the Utility Relations and Ethics Committee of the National Cable Television Association. He also spent ten years as an adjunct professor for New York University’s inter-active telecommunications Masters Degree program and, from 1995-1999, as Chairman of CTAM Education Foundation.
In is current position John serves on several boards including: Commission Junction (Board of Advisors), Central Florida Cable Communications (Chairman), EGT (Senior Advisor), Narad Networks (Advisory Board), NCUBE (Advisory Board), Gotuit (Board of Directors), Go-Net Networks Israel (Board of Directors), and Metropolitan Cable Communications (Board of Directors).
John is also a recipient of the NCTA's prestigious Vanguard award for State and Regional Association Leadership. |
