John Elter, Ph.D., joined Plug Power Inc. as Vice President of Research and System Architecture in March 2001 and was appointed Chief Technology Officer in May 2004. Dr. Elter is responsible for directing the development of advanced fuel cell systems, managing the Centers of Excellence, and guiding the development of fuel cell technologies that drive Plug Power’s overall product strategy.
Prior to joining Plug Power, Dr. Elter worked at Eastman Kodak Corporation, where he most recently served as Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. Dr. Elter spent over thirty years at Xerox Corporation, where he held a variety of management positions, including Vice President of Strategic Programs. Dr. Elter has a proven track record in pioneering high technology innovation and product commercialization, including two major product platforms that have generated over $40 billion in revenue. As head of the Lakes program, he led the Zero to Landfill effort to deliver a fully recyclable, remanufacturable and reusable product.
Dr. Elter is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Electrochemical Society, the Society of Organizational Learning and the System Dynamics Society. Dr. Elter holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University, a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from New York University, and a Ph.D. in Mechanical and Aerospace Sciences from the University of Rochester. |
