Mr. Osborn joined the company in 1997 as vice president, Legal Affairs, and was promoted to senior vice president in 1998, and to executive vice president in 2006. He is responsible for managing all legal, intellectual property, government and public affairs matters at the company. Prior to joining Cephalon, he held various positions with The DuPont Merck Pharmaceutical Company. Prior to that, he served as special assistant to the legal adviser with the U.S. Department of State, practiced law in Boston with the firm of Hale and Dorr, clerked for Judge Albert V. Bryan of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and worked on Capitol Hill in the offices of U.S. Representative Jim Leach of Iowa and the late U.S. Senator John Heinz of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Osborn studied at the College of William & Mary, graduated from the University of Iowa (Phi Beta Kappa), and earned a master’s in international public policy from Johns Hopkins and a law degree from the University of Virginia. He holds a visiting research appointment in politics at Princeton University, and was an Eisenhower Fellow to Ireland and a visiting scholar in East European Studies at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C. Mr. Osborn is a member of the American Law Institute, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Board of Directors of Incept BioSystems, Inc., the Board of Governors of the East-West Center in Honolulu, the Leadership Council of the Life Sciences Institute at the University of Michigan, the Board of Trustees of Tower Hill School, and the Corporate Executive Board of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. |
