John Torres is senior vice president, general counsel and secretary for Freescale Semiconductor. In this role, he provides legal advice and counsel to senior management and the Board of Directors, and directs the activities of Freescale's Law Department, including the company's ethics and compliance office.
John led the company's legal efforts to take Freescale public in July 2004, and to complete the spinout from Motorola in December 2004. He joined Motorola in 1996 as a commercial law attorney supporting the Satellite Communications Group, working on the Iridium communications system and the Teledesic broadband communications system.
Before joining Motorola, John was in private practice for 13 years in Phoenix, Arizona; six years with a large law firm and seven years with a smaller firm he co-founded. His broad commercial law practice included both transactional work and litigation.
John earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame and a law degree from the University of Chicago. |
