Joel Pfeffer is a partner of Meyer, Unkovic & Scott LLP and is a member of the firm's Business Transactions & Planning and International & Immigration Law Groups. Mr. Pfeffer works primarily in the areas of immigration, nationality and corporate law. Mr. Pfeffer is listed in The Best Lawyers in America, published by Woodward/White, Inc., for his practice of immigration law.Mr. Pfeffer is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and has been a speaker at its National Conference. He is past chairman of the AILA Pittsburgh Chapter and the Allegheny County Bar Association Immigration Practitioners Committee. Currently on the AILA National Religious Workers Committee, he has extensive experience in handling immigration and naturalization matters on behalf of both foreign and U.S. based companies, as well as individuals. He has obtained Labor Certification, Temporary Visas, and Permanent Resident Status for numerous foreign applicants. Mr. Pfeffer has also worked with his foreign immigration contacts to facilitate the needs of U. S. citizens and permanent residents seeking work authorization outside the United States. Mr. Pfeffer is a member of the Allegheny County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations. He has previously served on the Board of the Community College of Allegheny County Educational Foundation and served on its Finance and Nominating Committees. Mr. Pfeffer also served as a Board Member of the Hebrew Free Loan Association of Pittsburgh. He is a founding attorney of the Legal Committee for Soviet Refugees. Mr. Pfeffer currently is Assistant Treasurer of the Jewish Family and Children’s Services and serves on its Finance Committee.Mr. Pfeffer received an Advanced Rabbinic Degree from Beth Medrash Govoha in 1981. Mr. Pfeffer received his Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1985. While in law school, Mr. Pfeffer was a staff member of the University of Pittsburgh Law Review. |
