Joel Epstein is Managing Director and Principal of the Toledo/Detroit office of WAVERLY PARTNERS and brings solid business experience to his executive recruiting practice. His career as a search consultant was preceded by experience gained from holding a wide array of increasingly responsible positions, ranging from senior management within established organizations to entrepreneurial enterprises. His executive search practice specialties include Public Companies, Banking and Financial Services, Entrepreneurial and Venture-Backed Companies, Higher Education and Nonprofit Organizations. His search career began with his role as Regional Vice President & Managing Director for StratfordGroup, a national retained executive search firm.

Joel's clients include Cooper Tire, Dana Corporation, Daimler-Chrysler, HCR-Manor Care, La-Z-Boy, National City Bank, University of Michigan, University of Toledo, The Toledo Museum of Art, The Toledo Zoo as well as various American Red Cross and United Way chapters.

Prior to entering executive search, Joel founded and managed several entrepreneurial ventures in Healthcare and Technology. These companies were in industries as diverse as software development and publishing, chemical development, medical imaging, and medical testing. Throughout his professional career, Joel has developed strategic relationships with Fortune 500 companies as well as government and defense industry contractors.

Earlier, Joel was associated with Trustcorp, Inc. for seventeen years, reaching the position of President & CEO and managing the lead bank of their holding company.

Joel earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toledo. He has served on the Board of Directors of Community Mutual Insurance Company, The Toledo Hospital, and as Chairman of the University of Toledo Foundation. He was formerly on the board of the Ohio Bankers Association, and has served on numerous corporate, industry, and community boards.
