Joel M. Bernstein is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Firm’s Los Angeles office. He is a member of the Firm’s Corporate Department where he has served as counsel in connection with corporate, limited liability company, and partnership structuring and restructuring, with emphasis on control and finance, capital formation, including placement of various types of basic and hybrid securities, and public offerings of equity securities.
Joel has also done substantial work in public finance of hospital revenue bonds, major commercial lending transactions, matters before the Securities and Exchange Commission and the California Department of Corporations. He has advised on mergers and acquisitions, general representation of high and medium technology companies and all areas of nonprofit corporate law. Contracts and commercial law comprise a substantial portion of his practice.
Joel has been recognized as one of the leading corporate lawyers in the United States by The Best Lawyers in America.
He has published a number of articles on computer contracts, securities and tax law issues. He is admitted to the California and Illinois bars.
