Dr. Mackin has had an extensive career in DoD Research and Development and Program Acquisition. He has managed several key sensors programs, including the Army's Combat ID ATD, the Army's Second Generation Thermal Imager (FLIR), and the Army's Advanced Laser Counter Measure Program (LCCM). He has also served as the Army's Director of Special Programs, high technology programs with special security protection . He has also served technical lead for the Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Science and Technology's Smart Sensor Web Program at MIT's Lincoln Labs.
Dr. Mackin has served on various Graybeard panels, as well as two National Academy of Science panels on the use of DoD technology for Homeland Defense. He holds a BS degree in Engineering from the United States Military Academy, a MS in Physics (Electro-Optics) from the Naval Post Graduate School, and a PhD in Physics (Laser and Atomic) from MIT. He is a graduate of the Defense Systems Management College, and holds a DoD level 3 certification in both R&D and Project Management. Dr. Mackin is also a Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society. |
