Joe grew up in Richardson, Texas and from an early age had a deep interest in the weather. Even after receiving his B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas and working six years at Rockwell International, his love for weather never subsided.
In 1992, Joe pursured his dream at Texas A&M and received a B.S degree in Meteorology. After being accepted to graduate school, the "television bug" set in and from then on, Joe worked as a Televsision Meteorologist at KFDA in Amarillo, WFOR in Miami and KMGH in Denver. Joe is a member of and holds the Broadcast Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society.
Joe brings his wife and son to the ArkLaTex. Both Joe and his wife Sandra enjoy running marathons and local ArkLaTex races. Joe is also an avid rugby fan and competed with and against the local Shreveport team for nearly half of his 13 year playing career.
With lots of connections in the ArkLaTex, moving to Shreveport just feels like coming home for Joe Haynes.
