Professional Profile
Joe Haberman focuses on senior-level assignments for domestic and international companies that provide content, technology and services to the three segments of the education industry: pre-K-12 education, post-secondary and corporate training and development.
Prior to Heidrick & Struggles, Joe spent nine years with another global executive search firm as Vice President and Managing Director. There, he originated an international practice in education markets. Previously, he led that firm's financial institutions group for three years. He also served on its management board, eventually as Vice Chairman.
Earlier in his career, Joe founded and grew a boutique search practice. Before entering executive search, Joe was Senior Vice President and National Staffing Director with Shearson Lehman Brothers in New York. He also held human resources executive positions with American Express and Manufacturers Hanover Trust.

With over 15 years of executive search experience, Joe is regularly engaged by leading companies in the education markets, as well as by private equity and venture capital investors actively capitalizing in this emerging global industry. Joe's clients include Sylvan Learning Systems, eCollege, Scientific Learning, Blackboard, Capella University, Houghton Mifflin and WRC Media.
Education
Joe was awarded a master's degree in education with a concentration in human resource development from George Washington University. He received his bachelor's degree from The American University.
Additional Information
Joe currently serves as a Director of Calvert Education Services, as well as an Advisory Board Member of two early-stage education companies. He regularly facilitates a CEO roundtable for the Greater Baltimore Technology Council, and serves on the Human Resources Advisory Board of the National Aquarium in Baltimore.
Previously, he was affiliated with the Center for Leadership and Change Management at The Wharton School of Business Administration, and was a Director of the Association of Executive Search Consultants.
