Joe Flanagan is senior vice president, Global Operations for Nortel.
In this role, Flanagan reports directly to the president and CEO and is responsible for end-to-end customer support from initial order through deployment, spanning customer order management, procurement, manufacturing services, logistics, technology introduction and support, and installation. He is charged with driving world-class results in customer satisfaction, cash management, and cost competitiveness as well as accelerating the pace of change that contributes to Nortel's execution capabilities and operational excellence.
Previous to his current position, Flanagan was vice president, Global Fulfillment, charged with driving world-class results for Nortel in customer satisfaction, supply chain and order management operations. Flanagan made important progress simplifying customer order placement with "touchless" orders, improving billing timeliness, standardizing process and metrics, and building a future-state supply chain architecture. With a strong leadership team in place, Flanagan will build on the momentum to date and accelerate the pace of progress in Global Operations, continuing to reduce complexity and make it easier for customers to do business with Nortel.
In addition to his accomplishments at Nortel, Flanagan is a proven results-driven executive leader with 13 years experience at GE where he held positions of increasing responsibility, including the General Manager of Operations for GE Consumer & Industrial in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). He also held the roles of General Manager of GE's Industrial Controls division, Chief Operating Officer of GE IMV, and General Manager, Mergers and Acquisitions, for GE's Digital Energy business. At his posts at GE, Flanagan had been headquartered in Japan, Switzerland, Spain and Hungary.
He earned his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. He is based at Nortel's offices in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.
