Before joining Jerini in 2000, Jochen was Vice President of Medicinal and Structural Chemistry at AXYS Pharmaceuticals in San Francisco, California. From 1988 to 1998, he directed a drug discovery branch at Hoechst/HMR focusing on peptidomimetics and antisense oligonucleotide research and development and gained extensive experience in all aspects of small molecule-based drug discovery. While at Hoechst/HMR, he also managed major collaborations with Genentech, Merck, and Ariad. Jochen initially joined the central pharmaceutical research unit of Hoechst in Frankfurt in 1978. He is named as the inventor of Quinapril, among several other patents, and has published numerous research papers, including those detailing his post-doctoral studies in natural product synthesis of arachidonic acid metabolites. With an undergraduate degree and doctorate in chemistry, Jochen conducted his post-doctoral research in the Corey Group at Harvard University. |
