Professional Experience
Ms. Thompson has extensive experience in environmental permitting, compliance and auditing, including:
Air and water quality;
Environmental review under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA);
Global Climate Change;
Permitting within the coastal zone;
Consultations and permitting regarding endangered and threatened species;
Dredge and fill permits pursuant to Section 404 of the Clean Water Act;
Release reporting and disclosure laws, including California`s Proposition 65.
Thompson assists clients in obtaining environmental permits, and provides advice regarding compliance with environmental laws. She regularly represents clients in administrative hearings, including more than one hundred hearings involving air quality compliance and permitting. She also assists clients in conducting compliance audits, and in environmental due diligence associated with mergers, acquisitions and financing.
Ms. Thompson`s clients include businesses engaged in manufacturing and the development of natural resources, as well as trade associations and governmental agencies. Before joining the firm, Ms. Thompson was a member of the law department of Exxon Company, USA.
