Joanna M. Smith is a member of the firm's public law group and practices in our Sacramento office. Prior to joining Meyers Nave, she served as a law clerk for the city attorney's office in Thousand Oaks where she drafted discovery requests and responses, answers, motions and oppositions. She also worked as a law clerk for a sole practitioner performing extensive legal research for various cases, drafting documents and assisting in preparation for trials. Joanna also served as a full-time Judicial Intern under the Honorable Margaret M. Morrow at the U.S. District Court, Central District of California, in Los Angeles. There she conducted legal research for orders and decisions in several areas of law, drafted tentative orders for review by Judge Morrow and law clerks.Joanna received her J.D. from Pepperdine University, School of Law in 2005 where she participated in Mediation Representation Competition 2005, First Year Moot Court and was a member of the International Legal Fraternity Phi Delta Phi. She also attended Pepperdine University's Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution where she earned a Master of Dispute Resolution in 2005. Through the dispute resolution program, Joanna had the opportunity to study abroad in London, England and Geneva, Switzerland in 2004. As a participant in the Dispute Resolution Clinic, she served as a mediator for small claims in Los Angeles County. Joanna completed her undergraduate degree in 2002 in business administration. |
