Jimmy S. Jackson is a past president of the Garner Chamber of Commerce and presently serves as a director. He serves on the Garner Marketing Advisory Committee is a Rotarian and has served on various committees for the town. After graduating from the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy in 1967, he began his career with Kerr Drug Stores and moved through the operational ranks and was the vice president of Pharmacy and Government Affairs at the time of Kerr’s acquisition by the J.C. Penney Company. Jimmy served in numerous positions of leadership with the NC Pharmaceutical Association and served as president in 1997. While associated with the Thrift Drug Division of the Penney Company, Jimmy was active in its Pharmacy Benefit Management Company called TDI managed Care. Jimmy’s Pharmacy Benefit Management experience includes a founding role in PNNC, and he continues to serve on the executive committee of its board of directors. Jimmy is vice president of pharmacy affairs for the Eckerd Corporation, and works closely with Boards of Pharmacy, Legislatures and Schools of Pharmacy from VA through FL. He serves on advisory boards for schools of pharmacy in NC, SC, Mississippi, and FL. Jimmy served as president of the North Carolina Pharmaceutical Association for the 1997-98 term and was elected pharmacist of the year for 1998. On the national level Jimmy has chaired the State Govt. Affairs committee for the National Association of Chain Drug Stores and has received the NACDS highest award in 1997 when he received the Harold Pratt award. In February of last year Jimmy was honored by his alma mater, The University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy by being recognized as a Distinguished Alumni Award Winner. Earlier this year, the University of Florida School of Pharmacy faculty chose Jimmy to receive their award for Distinguished Pharmacy Service and was also awarded an honorary PhD from Campbell University. |
