As Managing Partner of SSM Ventures, Jim Witherington is one of the original founders, serving as advisor and confidant to the CEOs of hundreds of Southeastern growth companies. He has been directly involved with the majority of the firm’s investments in the Southeast, helping to manage venture capital funds totaling $157 million in committed capital. The company’s most recent fund raised in 1998, has $114 million in committed capital and is one of the largest in the Southeast. SSM's investment focus includes software, technology, business applications, communications and service businesses. Witherington received his bachelor’s degree in Economics from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from the University of Chicago. He also serves on the boards of Connecture, GoldCoast Restaurants, and Morgan Keegan Select Funds, and he oversees SSM’s investment in Passport Health Communications. |
