Jim is a credentialed cpa, certified fraud examiner (CFE), Certified Forensic Specialist (CFS), Certified Turnaround Professional (CTP) and Certified Corporate Director. He integrates deep experience in both public accounting and as an officer and director in private industry to provide expert advice to clients in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, strategic planning, corporate governance, litigation support, bankruptcies, reorganizations, turnarounds and profitability improvement. With his combined experience and professional qualifications, he fulfills the financial expert requirements as defined by Sarbanes-Oxley, NYSE and Nasdaq. Jim has served in executive positions at both public and private companies ranging from entrepreneurial to multibillion dollar firms. After ten years in public accounting and consulting for PricewaterhouseCoopers, Jim transitioned to private industry. He spent over ten years as a member of boards of directors and in positions including president and CEO, CFO, secretary-treasurer, chief accounting officer and corporate controller. Jim has obtained diversified experience in many industries, including: industrial; general manufacturing; high technology manufacturing; defense manufacturing; semiconductor electronics manufacturing; energy - synthetic fuels; mining; oil and gas; retail/wholesale distribution; consumer product/services; food processing and packaging; agribusiness; building materials; real estate; finance; and, insurance. A university-certified facilitator and instructor, Jim teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in business and management, primarily relating to accounting and finance, economics, business ethics, auditing, management, and critical thinking. Jim has presented Corporate Transgressions and Financial Reporting Gimmickry at professional associations such as the Association of Certified Fraud Examiner’s National Fraud Conference. Jim obtained a Master of Science degree in Finance and Managerial Accounting in 1976 and a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1974 from the University of California at Irvine. He has been licensed to practice accountancy in California since 1981. |
