Dr. Ray has 24 years of experience in the fields of molecular and cellular biology and biochemistry and 18 years experience with analysis of gene expression. She graduated magna cum laude with a Degree in Distinction from Boston University in 1982 with a B.A. in biology. She obtained her Ph.D. in 1988 at The University of Virginia where she studied an enzyme involved in aromatic amino acid biosynthesis in Esherichia coli. Dr. Ray held a five-year tenure in the Extracellular Matrix Pathology Section in the Laboratory of Pathology in NCI at the NIH in Bethesda, MD studying the molecular and cellular mechanisms of tumor invasion and metastasis. Dr. Ray then worked for one year in R&D at Oncor in Gaithersburg MD. Her major responsibilities involved development of research kits, including the telomerase TRAP assay. In 1996, she joined KPL and led the development of KPL.s non-isotopic molecular biology product line. She also was instrumental in bringing GS320 into KPL, developing the commercial value of the GS320 platform and brought that product to the pre-market launch stage. She is a founding employee of Capital Genomix and is responsible for enhancement of the technology, adaptation of GS320 for HTS and continued development of the Immunomouse. She contributed to the original GS320 patent (US patent: 6,221,600) and has 4 patents pending. |
