Ms. May is an associate in the Dayton office of Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP. She received her undergraduate degree, graduating summa cum laude, from Adrian College and a law degree, graduating as class valedictorian, from the University of Toledo College of Law. While in law school, Ms. May served as a Note and Comment Editor for the University of Toledo Law Review. Ms. May concentrates her practice in the area of labor and employment law, with a special emphasis on Ohio and federal prevailing wage compliance. She assists clients with issues arising out of the Family and Medical Leave Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Civil Rights Act of 1964, Fair Labor Standards Act, the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, and Ohio's unemployment compensation statute. Her work in this area includes drafting employee handbooks, counseling employers regarding employee leaves of absence, discipline and termination, and defending employers in administrative proceedings and litigation. Ms. May also represents employers in their dealings with labor organizations, including issues arising out of the National Labor Relations Act and the Ohio Public Employee Collective Bargaining Act. Additionally, Ms. May counsels merit-shop construction contractors on all aspects of Ohio and federal, Davis-Bacon prevailing wage compliance, and defends both administrative claims and lawsuits. Ms. May is a frequent presenter on this topic for the Ohio Valley Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors. She is a member of the firm's Professional Women's Resource Group (PWRG). She also serves as General Counsel to GOBoxerRescue and as the Governmental Affairs Committee Co-Chair for the Miami Valley Human Resource Association.
