Jerry Howard is senior vice president of Corporate Affairs for Marathon Oil Corporation. He joined Marathon in 1975 and began his current assignment in 2002.
Mr. Howard was appointed vice president of Taxes in 1998 at USX Corporation in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. USX Corporation was the former holding company for Marathon. He became Marathon’s vice president of Human Resources and Environment in 1997.
In 1993, Mr. Howard was appointed director of Tax and Financial Planning. He was named general tax manager in 1988. Two years earlier, in 1986, he was appointed manager of Tax Compliance and Planning.
Mr. Howard began his career as an internal auditor at Marathon Oil Company in Findlay, Ohio. He was transferred to the Marathon Tax department in 1976, where he progressed through a series of supervisory and managerial posts.
Mr. Howard was born in Social Circle, Georgia. In 1970 he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia, and a master’s in business administration in 1972 from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. He is a certified public accountant. |
