Jerry C. Hill is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Washington, D.C. office. He is a member of the Firm’sLife Sciences and Biotechnology Practice Group and a member of the Food and Agriculture Practice Group. He focuses his practice on administrative law and legislative issues.
Prior to entering private practice, Jerry was a deputy assistant secretary at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. In that capacity, he supervised five regulatory agencies: the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, the Agricultural Marketing Service, the Federal Grain Inspection Service, the Agricultural Cooperative Service and the Office of Transportation. Jerry also served on various USDA and interagency task forces and policy groups dealing with such diverse subjects as law enforcement, energy, agricultural marketing and pricing.
Jerry’s legislative background includes 12 years’ experience working for a U.S. Representative and Senator, first as a legislative assistant, later as chief legislative counsel and finally as chief of staff. Jerry has extensive legislative and administrative experience in matters involving energy, food and agriculture issues, water, the environment and transportation.
Jerry has represented clients before Executive Branch Agencies such as the Department of Agriculture, the Department of the Interior, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. He has also worked with many members of Congress and Congressional Committees on authorizing legislation and amendments, appropriations and oversight matters affecting clients’ interests.
Jerry is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia.
