Jerome Romero is a partner at Jones Waldo and a member the Litigation Department. He leads its Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights practice group. He concentrates his practice in the areas of bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, workouts and commercial litigation. He has considerable experience representing lenders, lessors, owners, contractors and other businesses in litigation, arbitration, mediation and bankruptcy proceedings. He also provides clients with general business advice, particularly with regard to debtor/creditor relationships and the enforcement of creditors’ rights and remedies. He was listed in Utah Business Magazine’s Legal Elite for his work in bankruptcy in 2007 and 2008.
Jerome primarily represents the interest of secured creditors, but he has experience representing all interests participating in bankruptcy proceedings, including the Chapter 11 debtors, trustees, lessors, equity holders, administrative creditors, unsecured creditors, and the unsecured creditors committees. During his career, Jerome has represented the interests of Wells Fargo Bank, Zions Bank, First National Bank of Boston, Wachovia Bank, Regents Blue Cross Blue Shield, Intermountain Farmers Association, and State Street Bank. He has also entered an appearance on behalf of firm clients in Chapter 11 proceedings throughout the nation, including the bankruptcy filings of Texaco, Kmart and Spiegel.
Jerome was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated with honors from the University of Utah in 1984 with a degree in finance. He attended law school at Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley, and received his J.D. in 1987. Upon graduation from Boalt Hall, Jerome joined Jones Waldo and has been here since. |
