Jennifer M. Mikulina is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Chicago office. She is a member of the Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department, where her practice encompasses a broad range of intellectual property matters, including unfair competition, trademark and copyright counseling, prosecution, licensing and litigation.
Jennifer’s practice includes trademark counseling for clients in a wide variety of industries. She works with U.S. and international clients to register, maintain, protect and license trademarks, service marks and trade names. Jennifer also assists clients with copyright matters pertaining to various works of authorship, including print publications, software, multimedia presentations, web pages and online databases.
Jennifer’s intellectual property litigation experience in the areas of trademark, trade dress, unfair competition, trade secret, copyright and patent law includes cases involving computer software, consumer products, electronics, medical devices, transaction cards and apparel construction. Jennifer frequently assists with the intellectual property aspects of corporate transactions, including financings, joint ventures, and mergers and acquisitions.
Jennifer provides pro bono services to a variety of clients as a volunteer attorney for Lawyers for the Creative Arts and the Children and Family Justice Center at the Northwestern University School of Law. Jennifer also participates in the Tax Assistance Program, tutors elementary school students at Brown Elementary School in Chicago through McDermott Will & Emery’s Partners in Reading Program and is an officer of Literacy Chicago’s Associate Board. In addition, Jennifer was one of four recipients of the 2006 McDermott Will & Emery Associate Award for Outstanding Commitment and Service to the Community. Jennifer is currently co-chair of the Chicago Pro Bono and Community Service Committee.
Jennifer received her bachelor’s of science degree, with honors, in international relations, economics and political science. Jennifer is admitted to practice in Illinois and Wisconsin and before the Federal District Courts for the Northern District of Illinois and Western District of Wisconsin. Jennifer is a member of the American Bar Association, International Trademark Association (INTA), Wisconsin Bar Association, Illinois Bar Association and Chicago Bar Association.

Represented clients in the healthcare, toy, nonprofit and hospitality sectors in arbitration proceedings in accordance with the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy, adopted by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN)
Counseled Fortune 500 companies in the selection, clearance and protection of trademarks, including management of international trademark portfolios
Represented clients in connection with Business Software Alliance (BSA) audits regarding software license compliance
Advised clients on intellectual property aspects of corporate transactions including due diligence, management, transfer and licensing of intellectual property rights
Represented clients in trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial & Appeal Board of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
