Jennifer Gonzalez is an Associate in the Labor & Employment Group. She has successfully defended numerous employment cases involving claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, non-competition and non-solicitation agreements, and other employment-related cases. Ms. Gonzalez also counsels private employers on day-to-day employment related issues, including employee leaves of absence, discipline, layoffs, terminations and reductions in work forces.
Her experience includes federal and state court litigation in the State of Michigan, as well as assisting clients in defending charges of discrimination filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Michigan Department of Civil rights. Ms. Gonzalez has also had considerable experience and success in favorably resolving matters with alternative dispute resolution, including arbitration, facilitation and mediation.
Ms. Gonzalez is a member of the American Bar Association, the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association, the State Bar of Michigan Labor and Employment Section, and the University of Michigan Alumni Association.
Experience
Obtained stipulated dismissal of case after removal to federal court and filing a motion to dismiss, alleging claims of sex and age discrimination, retaliation, and violation of the Michigan Whistleblower's Protection Act.
Assisted in obtaining stipulated dismissal of state case involving claims of wrongful termination and religious discrimination, and denial of unemployment compensation after filing motion for summary disposition.
Assisted in obtaining stipulated dismissal of state case involving claims of reverse race discrimination.
Assisted in obtaining dismissal on summary judgment of federal age-discrimination claim.
Assisted in obtaining dismissal on summary judgment of federal case involving claims of workers compensation retaliation, FMLA interference, breach of employment contract, and age discrimination.
Assisted in obtaining dismissal on summary judgment of federal case involving claims of age discrimination, failure to rehire, and retaliation.
Counseled and defended clients with respect to non-competition and non-solicitation agreements.
