Mr. Halpern is the previous Chairman of Southwest’s Board of Directors, a position he held from the time he founded the company with Jim Druck until the formation of our majority-independent Board in 2005. Jeff practiced law for more than 25 years before founding Southwest and was a founding partner of Halpern and Druck, where he specialized in corporate finance. He has extensive contacts in the public and private financial markets and has secured public and private funding for a variety of entities. Mr. Halpern also played a lead role in a number of M&A transactions on behalf of both public and private corporate clients. Mr. Halpern provides transactional experience and knowledge related to debt and equity financing as well as leading Southwest’s lobbying and government relations efforts. He received his B.A. degree from the University of Minnesota in 1964 and his J.D. Degree from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1967.
