Jeffrey L. Bleustein was named Chairman of the Board of Harley-Davidson, Inc. in December 1998.
Prior to his current responsibilities, Dr. Bleustein served the company in many capacities, including Vice President of Engineering, 1975 to 1984; President of Trihawk, Inc., a subsidiary of Harley-Davidson, 1984 to1985; Vice President of the Parts and Accessories Division, 1985 to 1988; Senior Vice President, 1988 to 1990; Executive Vice President, 1990 to 1993, President and Chief Operating Officer, 1993 to 1997; and Chief Executive Officer and President, 1997 to 2005.
Prior to joining Harley-Davidson in 1975, Dr. Bleustein was a temporary member of the technical staff of Bell Telephone Laboratories. Between the years 1966 and 1971 he was an Associate Professor of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Yale University. In 1971 Dr. Bleustein became a member of the Central Technical Staff of AMF, Inc.
In 2002, Dr. Bleustein was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve on the President’s Council on the 21st Century Workforce. Dr. Bleustein serves on the Board of Directors of the Milwaukee Florentine Opera, the Milwaukee Jewish Federation, the Greater Milwaukee Committee, the Medical College of Wisconsin, and is a Regent Emeritus of the Milwaukee School of Engineering. He also serves on the board of the Brunswick Corporation and Kohler Co.
Dr. Bleustein holds a BS in mechanical engineering from Cornell University, as well as MS and PhD degrees in engineering mechanics from Columbia University. |
