Jeffrey Caldwell was named chief of communications at the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) in June 2007.
Caldwell began his state government career in 2000, serving as public affairs manager in VDOT’s Richmond and Hampton Roads districts.
He left VDOT in 2005 to become the director of public relations for the Virginia Department of Health. He rejoined VDOT as assistant director of public affairs in early 2006.
Caldwell was previously a reporter and worked in corporate communications at Circuit City’s headquarters in Richmond.
While in college, he spent summers on road construction and maintenance crews in upstate New York.
Caldwell has earned several professional accolades, including two Virginia Press Association awards for journalism and three VDOT Commissioner's Awards of Excellence.
Education
Caldwell holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Richmond.
