Jeff Bushofsky is a Trial partner resident in McDermott Will & Emery LLP’s Chicago office. Jeff specializes in complex litigation, including trial work in national consumer class actions and other proceedings involving securities fraud, technology disputes, trademarks, rights of publicity, professional malpractice and white collar crime. Jeff also has experience in sports and entertainment law, having represented a famous athlete in a series of cases, as well as a popular TV show in an image dispute.
Jeff’s recent litigation results include the following representative matters:
Obtained dismissal of a $50 million federal action against a major Internet company in the Northern District of Illinois alleging violations of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act
Obtained dismissal of a multistate consumer fraud class action against a national insurer in Madison County, Illinois alleging unfair claims practices
Mediated a significant ERISA case to favorable conclusion in the District of Minnesota
Obtained dismissal of a federal consumer fraud class action against a well-known food manufacturer in the Northern District of California
Defeated a string of NASD arbitrations brought by investors alleging securities fraud against a leading financial services company
Jeff graduated with honors from the University of Chicago Law School in 1994. In 1990, Jeff finished first in his graduating class at the University of Florida, where he served as a manager of the Gators’ football team.
Jeff is committed to pro bono and bar activities. He has received the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Foundation’s Distinguished Service Award. In 2005, Jeff chaired the Chicago Bar Association’s Securities Law Section. Jeff is a member of the Illinois Bar and the Trial Bar of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
