Jeff Blumenthal has over 40 years of experience as a business economist specializing in strategic planning and forecasting, and covering a wide range of industries. A major portion of his professional career was spent with Follett Corporation, an educational services company serving schools, libraries, and post-secondary institutions. At Follett he worked at several operating companies before moving to the Corporate Headquarters where he performed market forecasting and strategic analyses of educational markets, and represented Follett on several industry standards organizations. He was directly responsible for the implementation and operation of Follett’s Balanced Scorecard strategy implementation, which included scorecards and performance metrics for each operating company and two shared service units, as well as the Corporation.
As Vice President for blumenthal-hart Ltd., he is responsible for technology, including the website and BLOG. He has developed the Higher Education Recruitment Opportunity Index and adapted the Strategy Map from the Balanced Scorecard to the non-profit sector.
Prior to this, Mr. Blumenthal spent seven years as President of the Jeffrey Corporation, a consulting firm dealing with business strategies, nine years as Vice President of the Forecasting Division at Planmetrics dealing with rates and economics for utility companies, and four years at Sylvania Electronic Systems assessing the vulnerability of military communication systems.
Mr. Blumenthal holds an Engineers Degree (doctor of engineering) in Engineering-Economic Systems and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University . His undergraduate degree was in Engineering-Physics from Cornell University .
He has taught classes in forecasting and strategy at Northwestern University ’s Kellogg School of Management and at the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management.
