Dr Johnson is a Founder and Chief Scientific Advisor of Mithridion. Dr Johnson is currently Associate Professor, Division of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Pharmacy, UW and is Director of the Pharmacology and Toxicology B.S. Program, and Director of the Molecular and Environmental Toxicology Ph.D. Training Program in the School of Pharmacy, UW. Dr Johnson is a neuropharmacologist with more than 12 years of experience of research in neurobiology and neurodegenerative diseases. He is author on 41 peer reviewed scientific publications and is inventor on 5 patent applications filed or in preparation. Dr Johnson was honored in Wisconsin State Governor Doyle’s State of the State address in 2005 for his research on Alzheimer’s disease. His laboratory will receive $1.5 million in grants from the State of Wisconsin over the next three years for Alzheimer’s disease research. Dr Johnson is the recipient of $3,460,000 (including indirect costs of $1,100,000 ) of grants from NIH. Dr Johnson is and has been Principal Investigator on several NIH grants. Prior to joining UW in 1999, Dr Johnson was Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology, Toxicology and Therapeutics at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, KS and prior to that he was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Washington, Seattle, WA, where he trained in molecular neurobiology. Dr Johnson received his PhD in 1992 from UW, Madison, WI for Toxicology and Oncology research in the Waisman Center. |
