Jeff Hackett just completed his first season as the Avalanche's goaltending coach. He was named to his position on July 12, 2006.
Hackett appeared in exactly 500 games over a 15-year career in the National Hockey League, which included stints with the New York Islanders, San Jose Sharks, Chicago Blackhawks, Montreal Canadiens, Boston Bruins and Philadelphia Flyers. The London, Ontario, native was the Islanders' second-round pick in the 1987 draft.
One of his best seasons came as a member of the Blackhawks in 1996-97, when he ranked third in the NHL in goals-against average (2.16) and tied for second in save percentage (.927).
Hackett posted a 166-244-56 lifetime record with a 2.90 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage with 26 shutouts. He retired as a Flyer on February 9, 2004.
