As Director of Strategic Planning for the San Francisco 49ers, Jed York serves as a business analyst for the team, and is responsible for the integration of brand strategies and projects related to the long-term operational and financial development of the organization. He is a key member of the project team working towards the construction of a new stadium for the 49ers in the Bay Area. York joined the organization in 2005, where he held the position of special projects manager. In that capacity, he aided the restructuring of the coaching and player personnel departments, including the hiring of Head Coach Mike Nolan and Vice President of Player Personnel Scot McCloughan. York also spent time learning how each department works together to achieve the team’s goals both on the field and in the community. In June of 2007, York was elected to the Board of Directors for the Bayview Hunter’s Point YMCA, which has been a major beneficiary of the 49ers Foundation. York began his career as a financial analyst at Guggenheim Partners, a diversified financial services firm prior to his work with the 49ers. He worked in the firm’s New York office in several areas, including private wealth management, hedge funds risk analysis, and collateralized debt obligations.
York’s roots with the 49ers run deep. He is the oldest child of John and Denise York, the owners of the team. York’s uncle and godfather, Eddie DeBartolo Jr., was the former owner of the 49ers. A 49ers fan since birth, Jed attended his first Niners game in 1984. His goal has always been to carry on his family’s tradition of success and excellence. Born and raised in Youngstown, OH, York was a student athlete at Cardinal Mooney High School, where he was captain of the baseball team and student body president. After high school, York decided to carry on a family tradition by attending the University of Notre Dame, where he earned a degree in both finance and history. York was a member of Phi Alpha Theta, the National History Honors Society and also had the opportunity to study abroad in London in 2002. York credits his parents, his uncle Eddie DeBartolo Jr., and his grandfather Edward DeBartolo Sr., a prolific real estate developer, as being positive role models. He credits them for instilling character values such as integrity, a strong work ethic, respect for others and a good business sense coupled with a strong commitment to community service. Besides his tremendous passion for the 49ers, York enjoys traveling, fishing, and playing cards, which he learned from his grandfather. |
