Jean has extensive experience representing creditors, debtors, creditors’ committees and trustees on a wide range of creditors’ rights, reorganization and bankruptcy matters, including Chapter 11. Jean has represented clients on a wide range of industry- and transaction-specific matters, including large and middle-market companies in the steel, automotive, manufacturing, coal, plastics and healthcare industries. In 2003, she was named by the national publication Turnarounds and Workouts as one of 11 Outstanding Young Bankruptcy Attorneys in the country and she has been named as a leader in her field of law by Chambers USA. A frequent lecturer and author, Jean is co-chair of the Unsecured Trade Creditors Committee for the American Bankruptcy Institute, the largest multi-disciplinary, non-partisan organization dedicated to research and education on matters related to insolvency, and she is a contributing editor for a healthcare bankruptcy column in the ABI Journal. An active member of the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC), Jean is the founder of the local Northeast Ohio IWIRC Network. She is also a founding member of In Counsel with Women. Jean is on the board of trustees of the Cleveland Zoological Society and is an American Heart Association Cleveland Chapter volunteer. She previously worked on the Cuyahoga County Bar Association Bankruptcy Pro Bono Project, was a trustee on the Charenton Theater Board and was a member of the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission’s 2007 NCAA Women’s Final Four Local Planning Committee. She has been named one of the Best Lawyers in America, an Ohio Super Lawyer by Cincinnati Magazine and a Leading Lawyer by Inside Business Magazine. Jean served as the Marketing Partner for her previous firm, McDonald Hopkins, overseeing the marketing department, as well as strategic and business developments within the firm’s five offices.
