Jean-Jacques "J" Cabou divides his practice between civil and criminal litigation. His civil practice focuses on complex commercial and constitutional matters, while his criminal practice emphasizes asset forfeiture and appellate work. J earned his bachelor's degree in Government and Foreign Affairs with high honors from the University of Virginia and his Doctor of Law degree from the University of Chicago. After law school, J was a judicial clerk to Chief Judge Mary M. Schroeder of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. J joined Osborn Maledon in 2004.
J recently returned to the Firm following a leave of absence during which he served as Assistant for Public Safety to Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley. In that capacity, he served as liaison between the Mayor and the City's Departments of Police, Fire, Emergency Management, and Public Health. He worked with the Mayor and the Department commissioners to formulate, implement, and oversee public safety policy and operations for the City of Chicago. While in Chicago, J was also on the faculty of the University of Chicago Law School as a Lecturer in Law, teaching a course entitled The Law Policy and Politics of Policing. J continues to be involved in public safety issues here in Arizona as an appointee to the Governor's Traffic Stop Advisory Board and as adjunct professor at Arizona State University Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law.
Away from work, J and his wife, Sarah, are accomplished Ironman triathletes and road cyclists.
