John (J.C.) Murphy, a leading telecommunications industry executive, brings significant experience in senior level sales, operations and engineering management at established and startup companies to his position as Executive Vice President, Worldwide Sales for Cedar Point Communications. Mr. Murphy joined Cedar Point from Cantata Technology, where he was named New England Telecommunications Executive of the Year by Mass High Tech in 2006 for his accomplishments as president. As president of Excel Switching Corporation from 2003-2005, Mr. Murphy played a key role in the creation of Cantata via the acquisition of Brooktrout Technologies, in 2005 by EAS Group, Inc., parent company of Excel, and subsequent sale of Cantata Technology to the Dialogic corporation in 2007. From 1998-2000, Mr. Murphy held a variety of positions with Excel Switching, including vice president, global sales and general manager, open network platform division. Following the acquisition in 2000 of Excel by Lucent Technologies, he served as general manager/vice president of the softswitch solutions division until 2003, where he led the internal effort to return Excel Switching to a separate corporation. Prior to joining Excel Switching, Mr. Murphy held several sales positions with ADC Telecommunications. He also spent four years as an officer in the United States Coast Guard. Mr. Murphy holds B.S. degrees in Government and Engineering from the United States Coast Guard Academy. |
