Jay brings 20+ years of multi-faceted professional experience focused on the financial and capital markets and building companies and markets from ideation to funding to critical mass. Jay began his career in 1986 with Salomon Brothers as an Institutional Fixed Income salesman. In 1991, Jay left corporate Wall Street to focus his efforts on entrepreneurship opportunities with Structured Capital Management (1991), a quantitative analytics, structured finance and sales firm, Financial Design (1994), a Fee-only Financial advisory firm, and OffRoad Capital (1996). At OffRoad Capital (ORC), Jay was Co-Founder, Board Member and EVP for Sales and Distribution. To launch and grow ORC’s own business model, Jay raised $42 mm over three years from angel investors before the addition of institutional investors Mayfield Fund, Robertson Stephens and Charles Schwab & Co. Jay oversaw the first-ever private equity investment transaction completed entirely over the Internet along with all of ORC’s additional financings. Jay helped build ORC’s Broker-dealer, OffRoad Securities, and its investor network to over 7,000 angel investors (representing $40 billion of aggregated wealth). ORC was sold in 2001 to NYPPE.
