Jay Monge is an experienced finance and transactional attorney and corporate adviser whose practice is concentrated in three key areas of business need:
Finance, in which he represents financial institution syndicates in negotiating and documenting senior debt component in recapitalizations; contested and friendly change-in-control transactions; and private and public consensual debt restructurings, with particular emphasis on intercreditor issues relating to the relative priorities of unsecured claims or of liens among multiple capital tranches.
Mezzanine investment involving the representation of institutional and private investors in negotiating and documenting domestic and cross-border purchases of bridge and long-term subordinated debt and preferred and common equity investments.
Jay has been associated with Mayer Brown since 1969. Prior to joining the firm’s Charlotte Office in 1999, he was located in New York (1979-1999) and, earlier, in Chicago (1969-1979). He is listed in Who’s Who in America.
