Jay B. Pieper, 61, became a director of Biopure in October 2004. Since 1995, he has been vice president for Corporate Development and Treasury Affairs of Partners HealthCare System, Inc., the parent company of several healthcare-related entities including Brigham and Women?s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital. From 1986 to 1995, he was senior vice president and chief financial officer of The Brigham Medical Center. He is a director of Eclipsys, a healthcare information systems company; WorldCare, Inc., a global telemedicine company; Controlled Risk Insurance Company (CRICO), Ltd., and the Harvard Clinical Research Institute. He is past director of Financial Executives International and past chairman of the Boston Organization of Teaching Hospital Financial Officers. He received his M.B.A. degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., and his B.A. degree from Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa. |
